Requirements for Divorce in Ohio
Before filing for divorce in Ohio, at least one spouse must be a resident of the state for a minimum of six months prior to filing. As a mixed state, divorce can be filed based on either fault or no-fault grounds. Fault grounds are typically used to gain advantage when there are disagreements in matters pertaining to child custody, child support, alimony, or other family law matters.
Unfortunately, divorce involves more than just the end of a marriage. There are a number of issues that must be addressed, and terms that must be agreed upon. Often, it is difficult for divorcing spouses to come to an agreement.
